Backup to a mounted samba share
Author Message
Post Backup to a mounted samba share
hi

i have a synology disk station DS-101 [1] which is an harddrive in a
smart case with an linux running in it and you can access it through the
network. i tried to install rdiff-backup on the box but failed Sad if
anybody has got rdiff-backup to work on this thing i would be very happy
to here from you!

so i thought perhaps i can use rdiff-backup when i mount the samba share
on my host (i used cifs) but rdiff-backup stops with the attached error
when i use a mounted samba share as destination.

i used rdiff-backup 1.1.5.

is this a problem of unsupported filesystem functions of the cifs?

greets
KoS

Hi Martin,
there was no attached error, but I have used cifs extensivly and its
pretty sweet. If you send the error I hope we can make it work.

oh..sorry i have forgot to send the file :-(

i'm not sure if its a problem with rdiff-backup, i have just tried to
rdiff-backup to another cifs drive (mounted from my normal server) and
it worked just fine. perhaps a bug in the samba used on the ds-101.
