Hi Keith,

While I was cutting and pasting the error message I figured out the problem.

I recently added this nifty line to every .bashrc in the world
echo -ne "\033]0;${USER} < at > ${HOSTNAME}: ${PWD}\007"

It redoes the title of my terminal window to help me keep track of
stuff. However
it causes rdiff-backup to crash most ungracefully.
