Using --compare-at-time?

Post Using --compare-at-time? 
Hi,

Using --compare or --compare-at-time causes a fatal error regarding
mirror metadata. Am I doing something wrong? The time specified with
--compare-at-time makes no difference. Thanks for your help.

there is some discussion in the archives about this.
I believe this feature is broken
