What is the output of `crontab -l`? If the line invoking your rsnapshot
script ends with "2>&1" you won't receive an email upon error.

Here is my cron file:

0 */4 * * * /usr/bin/rsnapshot hourly
45 23 * * * /usr/bin/rsnapshot daily
30 23 * * 1 /usr/bin/rsnapshot weekly
15 23 1 * * /usr/bin/rsnapshot monthly

If you were to append the following to each line you'd get the output
in "rsnapshot.log" and the errors in "rsnapshot.err":

/var/log/rsnapshot.log 2>/var/log/rsnapshot.err

Use ">>" instead of ">" if you want to append to the logs rather than
overwrite at each run.
