I'll echo Kevin's comments. Good summary. I'd say its worthwhile to go
through the mechanics of a restore to make sure you're comfortable
pulling data out of rdiff-backup's storage system. I had some bad
experiences there some time ago, subsequently switched to rsnapshot, and
have never looked back.
The simplicity of using cp, tar, rsync, or whatever to restore files
from rsnapshot's backups carries a lot of weight for me. If you're
restoring files at 3am, simplicity is a virtue!
