Note that the use of exclude options is exclusive here. If you have general
exclude rules for say /dev/ and /sys, you'll need to repeat them on a per

The fourth argument can also be +rsync_long_args thus (I've substituted
a linebreak for tabs to make it easier to read) which *adds* rsync args
instead of replacing them:
backup

+rsync_long_args=--exclude=/web/somesite/db/ --exclude=/var/log/apache2/ --exclude=/xen-images/
