Post Keep backup
Hello and sorry if this is a stupid question but I want be sure Smile

I'd like have 2 backups every days and keep it for 12 (or 24) months

I use debian6 with rsnapshot 1.3.1 and I do:

#interval hourly 1

interval daily 2
interval weekly 1
interval monthly 12 (for 1 year) or 24 (for 2 years)

is it correct?

thanks!

Pol

All of the data generated in your IT infrastructure is seriously valuable.
Why? It contains a definitive record of application performance, security
threats, fraudulent activity, and more. Splunk takes this data and makes
sense of it. IT sense. And common sense.

If you do your crontab in the right way and start today, IMHO you will have
on 1.1.12 two daylies from 1.1.12 and 31.12.11, one weekly from 25.12.11
and six monthlies from 4.12.11, 6.11.11, 2.10.11, 4.9.11, 7.8.11 and
3.7.11.

Please correct, if I'm wrong.

it's correct Sad

After long search..

only this:

interval halfday 3650 (2 by days for 5 years)

A question: after first backup, next backup will be only the difference
from first? (incremental backup or no?) if no, how can I do it?

You will see two full backups, but all the unchanged files of the next
backup are hardlinked to the files of the first backup, so they will need
no additional space.
