Mac OSX rsnapshot client
Author Message
Post Mac OSX rsnapshot client
We got our first Mac in the house and my well oiled rsnapshot backup
has a new wrench in it.

I have a linux box server that connects to the PC clients (cwrsync)
and uses rsnapshot to rsyncs files over.  I'd like to do the same with
the Mac but I'm having trouble finding simple instructions for setting
up rsync as a client for rsnapshot and configuring rsnapshot
accordingly. Any help would be appreciated.

Download Intel® Parallel Studio Eval
Try the new software tools for yourself. Speed compiling, find bugs
proactively, and fine-tune applications for parallel performance.

Thats easy,

use google to find how to use time machine with a network drive and use
Time Maschine.
Time machine backup works nearly as rsnapshot, with the advantage, that
OS X can hardlink folders.

Special instructions may have been needed for the PC, but you backup an
OSX Mac in just the same way as any other Unix/Linux system.

In particular, rsync is already present. You probably just need to enable
incoming ssh on the Mac (system preferences/sharing/remote login), do the
appropriate stuff with ssh keys, and then add the Mac to the rsnapshot
configuration.

That's all I do, anyways Wink)
