overwrote roots crontab

Post overwrote roots crontab 
I suggest you add /root to your backup. I installed an app the
otherday that overwrote my root crontab...

However root's crontab would be under /var/spool/cron (or
/var/cron/tabs), not /root (which only Linux uses). Backing up /root
wouldn't help you in this situation.

thanks, /var/spool then.

i only am backing up /var/lib and /var/bind atm. which raises the
question, is it possible to backup /var/, and exclude /var/log ?
