Post rotation of special files when using nei
I wanted to check the collective wisdom of the rsnapshot-discuss list
before making a possible change to the rsnapshot README.

Here are some editted highlights taken from rsnapshot's README:

``
COMPATIBILITY NOTICE (Please read)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have rsync version 2.5.7 or later, you may want to enable the
link_dest parameter in the rsnapshot.conf file.

If you do not have rsync 2.5.7 or newer, but you are running Linux, be sure
and enable the cmd_cp parameter in rsnapshot.conf.

When running rsnapshot on a system without either of these two options
enabled, special files will not be rotated in the snapshots properly. More
specifically, FIFOs, sockets, block and character devices will not be
supported. This is because there is no clean cross-platform way to
accomplish this in Perl (and if you know how, please let me know).
''

I think at least the last paragraph is no longer true.

The subroutine rsync_cleanup_after_native_cp_al was added to CVS
on 29 Jan 2005. Its job is to do an rsync from source to dest after
the cp -al is done, to catch things like FIFOs, sockets, etc.

Would anyone like to confirm that special files will be rotated in
snapshots properly, even if you don't have link_dest or cmd_cp?
(Assuming rsnapshot version >= 1.2.1)

Or alternatively, confirm that the text in README should be kept.
