Post rsnapshot-just what I need but veryyy sl
All,

Just installed rsnapshot on a 'backup server' on a 100MB/s LAN. I am looking to backup a few servers on the same LAN. I tested with a small filetree on one of the target servers and everything seems to work fine. So now, I am attempting to do an initial backup (hourly.0) of my first target server. The file tree that I am backing-up is approximately 10GB. The backup is proceeding smoothly but very slowly. The tranfer rate is approximately 50MB per hour!! Is this normal? at this rate I am looking at 100s of hours of transfering.. Obviously I am doing something wrong.

The systems that I run are Debian / etch machines. The backup server is a stand alone machine 1.8GHz Celeron with 512MB of RAM. The only twist is that the target machine is a VM on a Xen machine (Dual core Pentium D 3.0Ghz). The VM is allocated 64MB of RAM.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

TedF
