Post snapshot-root and dircetory to be backed up must exist? Good
currently parsing the config fails if either the target or the source
directory don't exist.

In my case both are mounted by the pre_cmd script.. Thus I had to patch
rsnapshot to ignore if those directories don't exist. So I wonder
whether its only me having hit this issue.

All of the data generated in your IT infrastructure is seriously valuable.
Why? It contains a definitive record of application performance, security
threats, fraudulent activity, and more. Splunk takes this data and makes
sense of it. IT sense. And common sense.
