Specific Backups on Specific Days

Post Specific Backups on Specific Days
I'm a successful user of rsnapshot at home in the past but I've always
stuck close to convention. At work, I'm experimenting a bit more.

I want to backup client machines at internals synchronized to the calendar
date. Basically, I want daily and weekly backups to take place on specific
days.

From the rsnapshot config file:
interval daily 6
interval weekly 4

From crontab:
10 00 * * 0-5 root rsnapshot daily
10 00 * * 6 root rsnapshot weekly

Question: After the first backup, does rsnapshot ever do full backups again?

My intent here was that any full backups take place on Sundays where they
will have all day to complete. During the week, backups need to be wrapped
up by about 6AM.

I understand that by doing daily backups on Sunday-Friday and the weekly
on Saturday that it may be necessary for me to synchronize rsync to the
real-world calendar by creating some empty backup directories.

No.

All that will happen for your weekly snapshots is:
delete an old weekly snapshot if you have the full complement;
rename all the remaining weekly snapshots;
rename a daily snapshot to be a weekly.

No syncing at all. So once you have a full set of dailies and weeklies,
your weeklies will be *faster* than the dailies. Here's what I do ...

00 00 * * * /usr/local/bin/rsnapshot daily
00 22 * * 6 /usr/local/bin/rsnapshot weekly
00 20 1 * * /usr/local/bin/rsnapshot monthly

My weeklies happen two hours before the dailies, which gives enough time
for the delete to finish.
