Post Using multiple config files
Hi,

Is there a way to use different config files with rsnapshot?
There are directories I'd like to backup daily and others I'd like to
backup only once a month.

What's your issue doing so? /etc/rsnapshot1.conf /etc/rsnapshot2.conf

rsnapshot -c /etc/rsnapshot1.conf>

You can share common settings using the include command.

Dear Markus,

The easiest way to use different config files is to use the include_conf directive. include_conf supports `backticks`, making it easy to for example automatically include all config files in a directory.

As far as I know, you should place the include_conf directive at the end of the rsnapshot.conf. This way, you can set defaults in rsnapshot.conf and then overload many configuration options in the included files.

Best regards,

Oskar Linde

Hallo, Markus,

Du meintest am 27.06.11:

There are directories I'd like to backup daily and others I'd like to
backup only once a month.

Surely it's possible.
But you shouldn't mix these 2 configurations for backing up into one
directory (with subdirs).

Mixing:
The daily backup first may copy the monthly backup and then sees that it
shall not backup these special directories. They get removed.
And after a month they get added again from the other configuration
file, and alle files are not hard linked.

Viele Gruesse!
Helmut
