Hi, I would like to know the recommended procedure for backing up a dell
NAS powervault. It has a cut down version of Windows but no CD-Rom. Do I
need to map a network drive to a shared CD-rom and install the client
backup software? Is it ok to install additional software on this cut
down version of windows and then back it up as a regular netbackup
client.

We backed up our Powervault using a NetBackup client (45 FP6) without
any problems. Can't recall how I installed it but installing from a
share would certainly work.
