Email duping: Mailbox level restores (not GRT)
Author Message
Post Email duping: Mailbox level restores (not GRT)
All,
I’ve got a co-worker fighting with an issue neither of us have much experience with. He’s successfully configured our Exchange 2003 mailbox backups (Netbackup 6.5.3.1 all around) with the required accounts, backup selections, etc. and can cherry pick individual mailboxes and backups complete successfully.

Now, following the normal procedure (page 68 in the guide), he’s able to recover individual emails/folders/etc.

The only problem is, even with the “Overwrite existing message(s)” option enabled, we aren’t able to delete any of the existing email with the recovered email. We end up with two emails of every single message we’ve recovered, with the “new” message having a different modified time. First we thought it was a local cache issue with Outlook clients, but have ruled that out now.

Anyone with experience with this?

Cheers,
Jon

We normally restore mailboxes to a recovery storage group and then use exmerge to merge the two without this duplicate issue you are seeing.
