I have seen this when you have a backup image that
believes it is one size, but the size on tape doesn't
match what the catalog thinks it is. I spent days,
even weeks trying to figure out the problem, only to
find it was a corrupt backup and I was attempt to
restore the same one every time. Verify the tape from
the GUI. This is especially true in my case because
it was a 2 GB db that was stopping at 312MB every
time. That was the hint that something was wrong with
the backup. If the activity monitor see if the error
five is hitting the same point every time.

I am trying to do a restore of an Exchange 2003 DB.
The media server is
Windows 2003, NBU 4.5 FP7 so is the client. I have
done successful
restores in the past but recently when I attempt a
restore I am greeted
with the error cannot write data on socket 10054 and
the job fails with
error code 5. I have this same msg showing up on
both of my setups. I
have an almost identical setup in CA that is
producing the same error
msg. Any ideas? I have the latest network drivers
and the Network guys
cant see any problems on the switches. The only
change within the last
few months would be the windows updates from last
months.
