Post strange: client name mismatch(39)
Has anyone seen this before?

When running a SQL online backup using NB batch script part way through the
multiple SQL backup jobs a job appears in the activity monitor and fails
with client name mismatch(39) here is the strange thing the detailed status
tab shows 'begin restore'

Master server

SAN media servers one of which hosted SQL server 2000

All NB5.1

Post strange: client name mismatch(39)
Hi,

The NB client is virtual server in two node cluster

The SQL host matches the client name. The failure occurred when it tried to
backup msdb db all other DBs backed up successful; the msdb db is in the
same batch script as the other db's that work

Mssql logs didn't show anything

Regards,

Imran

Hi Imran

I won't bother too much about the 'begin restore' message and rather
troubleshoot the error 39:

If you open the NetBackup "Backup, Archive and Restore GUI" on the SQL
client, go to File -> NetBackup Client Properties... -> "General" tab : What
does "Client Name" display? Does this correspond with the "Client Name" in
the backup policy?

Please share a copy of your backup script - if you have an "SQLHOST" and/or
"BROWSECLIENT" entry in your script, make sure it matches NBU Client Name as
per above.

Do you have dbclient and dbbackup logs? Any errors there?

Regards

Marianne
