Unsupported configuration ?

Post Unsupported configuration ?
Hi all,

I have a problem which is of our own making and was wondering if anyone had
some ideas on it.
We have 3 production boxes which have a 4.5 client on which unfortunately
have been backing up to a 3.4 master and 3.4 media server.
Backups finish with a 0 return code but we are unable to restore data.
This data is vital and I was wondering if I imported the images from the
old 3.4 system into the new 4.5 system it would be successful.
There is no option of upgrading the old 3.4 to 4.5.

Any help would be appreciated.

You should have no trouble importing those tapes to a
4.5 server and then being able to perform the restore.
You will probably have to use the media host override
option since the restore server will not be the same
as the backup server.

When you import, there's no need to override the media server.... The
act of importing assigns the "reading" media server as the "new" backup
server. In other words, the new server appears as if it always was the
backup server. And you should be able to import 3.4 written tapes into
a 4.5 environment.

On another note, how does the restore fail? Can you restore the data
to a different location and then move it to the final location?
