Incomplete Backup - Due to open files

When I receive a "AW0004 Failed to open file" warning when performing a backup. This causes my backup to become incomplete and I'm unable to restore a file from that session that was backed up after the open file warning. Can I somehow exclude open files in the backup (I backup shared web servers so the open files change from day-to-day). I don't want the to purchase the open-file option for each of these servers because I'm not really that concerned about the contents of the open files.

Hi,

If the open files have a specific name and a particular extension eg(.dll)
In this case you can exclude all the files with this extension through the filter option in the backup manager -> Options -> Filters.
There you can specify the type of files you want to exclude.
But if you feel that there are a whole bunch of files with different extensions then, you might just want to exclude the folder from the backup which has got the open files in it.

Most of the files we run into problems with are access databases but unfortunately we cannot exclude all of them. They are share hosting web servers so some have 100+ access DBs and need to be backed up.

Even though I'm unable to restore from the incomplete backup all the content is there, I just need to know how to access it.

Can you pls tell me what is the error message you get when you try to do a restore.

The data is actually in the backup and it was not truncated during the backup process, I just can't seem to restore files that were backed up after it encounters the open file error.

Can I know what is the version of Arcserve being used.

It's ARCserve 11.5 SP3 Build 4402

In that case please contact the CA support, I think there is a fix for this kind of issue and will be provided by them.
