Am Having Trouble Installing DP 6.0 On To A Linux Client

Posted by robs
Greetings!

Targe Client Hardware:

ProLiant DL385 G1
width: 32 bits
capabilities: smbios-2.3 dmi-2.3
product: AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 252
vendor: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD

[root@svlso-2-12 root]# uname -a
Linux svlso-2-12.rsn.hp.com 2.4.21-32.0.1.ELsmp #1 SMP Tue May 17 17:46:36 EDT 2005 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
[root@svlso-2-12 root]#

Whenever attempting to install DP 6.00 client
(DA and MA) onto this linux client from the cell manager, I get the following message:

[Normal] Starting installation session on Thursday, March 04, 2010, 9:41:07 AM...

[Normal] Getting list of clients for installation...

[Normal] Connecting to client svlso-2-12.rsn.hp.com...

[Normal] <svlso-2-12.rsn.hp.com> Checking for response from system svlso-2-12.rsn.hp.com.

[Normal] <svlso-2-12.rsn.hp.com> Invalid username or bad password (root)

[Critical] Setup has been aborted, exiting...

I know for a fact that I am giving it the correct root password.

Also, I did generate an RSA key on the cell manager and exported it to the target client and can authenticate directly from the cell manager to the target client without being prompted for a password.

Would appreciate any ideas that any of you might offer...

Regards,

Rob
Insatlling the DA & MA locally on the client is the best option.

I would make sure you have

OB2_SSH_ENABLED=1

set in /opt/omni/.omnirc on the Cell Manager

And when testing your ssh access from command line make sure you use fully qualified hostnames. This will update your known_hosts correctly for root.

It appears from the log posted it is trying remote commands and not ssh. When SSH is set in omnirc it will tell you it is using SSH.
scout,

Thank you very much! I set that variable and it solved the problem.
